N.B. The price shown is based on the staircase above and calculated based on current pricing.
The high ceiling in this property featuring lots of glass lends itself to an open staircase to maximise the benefit.
As such, this staircase was specified "part open riser - timber".
It's not possible to have fully open risers and comply with domestic building regulations, as it's stated that a 100mm sphere must not be able to pass through. So, 18mm oak risers partially close the gap, leaving 99mm to meet the building regulations' requirements.
As an alternative to this, it's also possible to use metal bars, which we also offer.
Glass balustrade has also been used to maximise the light.
When it comes to turns in a staircase, two options are available.
The advantage of winders is that they save space by combining three treads into a square box.
However, if space is available, landings (that use up more space) are arguably more pleasant to walk up are possible.
As this was a new-build property, the architect designed it to allow enough space for a half-turn staircase with quarter landings.
The embedded panels on this staircase go up the inside and also on the right-hand side after the feature treads due to there being no wall here.
With glass panels, we design each panel to suit the individual staircase.
We supply landing balustrade loose. When there's an angled area around the landing, it's possible to cut it on site to any angle required, as is the case on this project.
