This staircase is the central feature of this double-height feature hallway that drops down into a basement.
An open riser oak staircase can enhance a hallway and allow more light.
This staircase also uses embedded glass panels. The glass balustrade and open riser together allow maximum light through.
Due to the chimney breast, this staircase features a small run of additional balustrade part way up the right-hand side.
We supplied these parts loose due to the location.
We keep two handrail profiles in stock. The "modern choice" profile is the most popular choice for use with glass balustrades.
However, the HDR profile handrail remains an ever-popular choice with its excellent looks and ergonomics.
On a standard staircase, the risers are solid, letting no light through; however, with an open riser staircase, part of the riser is left open.
Due to building regulations, open riser stairs must not allow a 100mm sphere to pass, so part of the riser must be closed off, usually with a part timber riser or a metal bar.
In the case of this staircase, a part timber riser has been used to leave a 99mm gap.
Also worth noting is that, on an open riser staircase, the treads are profiled front & back; in this case, they have a "full round".
It was produced on time and delivered as planned with no issues.
We were very pleased with the staircase that was supplied.
The design experience was straightforward, and as part of our building process, it had to be redesigned several times, and this was redone extremely promptly and accurately with patience and care.
It was produced on time and delivered as planned with no issues.
My joiner was really happy with it and assembled it without any issues.
We then used a coloured wax on it to match it to our floor colour. We are very happy with it and it is the true focal point of our house redesign.
