12mm black metal balusters are an ever-popular choice.
To make them work with a cut string staircase, generally, the best approach is to use a square baluster which fits into a square hole on the tread, then a groove in the handrail with infill between each baluster.
We can supply black metal balusters with stairs of all construction types.
This staircase features two feature treads:
These two feature treads allow the bottom post to be set back by two treads (approx 500mm), making the hallway feel bigger and giving the staircase a grander appearance.
Cut string staircases provide considerable flexibility in creating a unique staircase.
This cut string stair is manufactured in a "traditional" style, with the risers mitred to the strings and the rounded profile treads overhanging both the front and side by 20mm.
This staircase has a cut string on both sides due to being exposed on both sides. There's no overhang on the cut string where it meets the wall.
Shadow caps have become increasingly popular due to their more modern look.
They attach to the post using two dowels and glue.
This staircase features a balustrade on both sides on the second flight.
Although this is unusual, it is necessary in this scenario as if it were not there, there would be a gap.
The alternative to this is to use glass panels to close the gap. However, in this scenario, it was felt that a full balustrade would look better.
Any post on your staircase can be dropped down to ground floor level.
However, it's unusual for one of the top posts to drop to the floor. This was done to help support the corner of the floor.
