Cut String Between Walls:

With a cut-string staircase, rather than the treads & risers being housed in the string, they sit on top of it, creating a feature. However, this is usually done to enhance the staircase's side profile.
As such, it's unusual to have a cut-string staircase between two walls. However, the effect is still visible from above when walking down the stairs. To reduce cost, the client also used pine strings, which wouldn't be visible.

Feature "Zig-Zag" trim:

Having a cut-string against a plastered wall creates a problem in that the plastered wall will often not be totally flat, resulting in unsightly gaps between the wall and the string.
The client opted to use a trim which resolves this problem.

Four Kite Winder:

A kite winder stair usually contains three kites. Primarily this is because it's hard to get the inside corners of more than three kites into a post.
However, on this staircase, we've used a 115x115mm inside post to overcome this problem.

No Overhang, Square Profile Treads:

For a modern look, square-edged treads were used on this staircase with no overhang past the riser.

The oak cut string with square profile seamlessly integrates with the contemporary aesthetic of the house.

We are very happy with the service and quality of stair provided by TK stairs. The oak cut string with square profile seamlessly integrates with the contemporary aesthetic of the house. We did end up chamfering the square profile as it was a little too sharp!
