High Staircase:

This staircase is particularly high, with a floor-to-floor height of 3975mm. A floor-to-floor this high is very unusual, as such, this staircase cannot be configured using our StairDesigner.
However, that's not to say we can't manufacture tall staircases; the main problem is that you can't get posts long enough to drop to the floor, and they need to be joined.

Joined Posts:

The longest oak posts we can typically source are 4200mm. However, due to the floor-to-floor dimensions of this staircase, four of the posts needed to be over 4200mm.
As such, they needed to be joined; we do this using a feature groove so that it doesn't look odd. It's generally considered better to use a feature groove and make a feature of it than to join two pieces together, which can look strange where the grain meets.

Posts To Floor:

As this staircase is "freestanding" it's necessary to have the posts to the floor for support, hence the super long posts.

Non Symmetrical Feature Tread(s):

Typically, any feature treads on a staircase are symmetrical unless one side is against a wall. However, on this staircase, the customer opted to have a curtail on the left-hand side and not on the right-hand side.
The customer felt this would work better due to the corridor to the right of the stairs. However, we don't recommend this.

Balustrade Up The outside:

Balustrade is the collective term for handrail, baserail and spindles; this staircase has a balustrade up both the inside and outside due to its freestanding nature, which is quite an unusual feature.

HDR Handrail:

We keep two handrail profiles in stock; the most popular choice for use with glass balustrades is the "modern choice" profile.
However, the HDR profile handrail remains an ever-popular choice with its excellent looks and ergonomics.
