Oak kite winder staircase with glass balustrade and gallery landing

This staircase features oak treads (22mm) and oak risers (18mm), so it does not need to be carpeted.
Oak treads and risers enhance the look of the stairs. 
However, it should be noted that stairs without carpet have less grip than those with carpet.
We also offer treads and risers in other materials and thicknesses.

This staircase features solid oak risers.
Although they can arguably look better, we believe that oak veneered risers look as good and offer significant cost savings, so in scenarios like this, we'd recommend oak veneered risers.

When there's a 90° turn, such as on these stairs, it's possible to either have:

• A kite winder (3 treads in turn).
• A quarter landing (1 tread in turn).

Regardless of the chosen option, the total number of treads in the staircase will be the same. As such, using a kite winder is more space-efficient.

Although it would have been possible to use a quarter landing on this staircase, you would need two steps before the turn.

We offer glass panels either:

• On clamps (with a choice of style and finish).
• Embedded into a groove within the handrail & baserail.

The glass on this staircase is embedded into a groove.
All glass panels we supply are made to measure for each staircase.

This staircase doesn't have post caps, and although it's 
possible to do this, we do not recommend it. This is because the edges end up sharp and can be potentially hazardous. The top of the posts can look unsightly.

Situated in a beautiful modern house with a vaulted ceiling, this staircase features glass embedded into a groove, further enhancing the property's interior by creating a feeling of space and light.
