Case Studies - Grey painted winder staircase with metal caps
REF: 37820-ashcroft
3D Model;
Notable Features:
Grey Finish:
It's popular to paint or stain a staircase; grey has become more prevalent in recent years. This staircase has been painted grey on site by the customer.
200mm Embedded Glass Panels:
This staircase features embedded glass panels. However, the "standard" way to do this is to have a fixed 20mm gap between each panel; then, the panels vary in width on each flight. However, on this staircase, the glass panels are a fixed 200mm in width, and the gaps between the panels vary on each flight. The key difference here is that the panel gaps vary in width instead of the panels varying in width. It's something we can do on request. However, it is less popular than the standard way of supplying glass panels on stairs.
Square Bullnose Feature Tread:
The feature tread on this staircase was supplied square instead of the usually rounded finish. It's a popular choice and is generally considered more modern in appearance.
Metal Post Caps:
Metal post caps are becoming more popular. We offer several styles in three finishes, brushed, mirror and black. The post caps on this staircase are "forge caps" in a "brushed" finish.

Customer Feedback
We went over to the factory at Beverley, and we were impressed with the operation, the product available, the design and of course, the price. Delivered on time and fitted like a glove which, for a double winder is quite an achievement. My carpenter was impressed! It's pine, painted grey with glass panels and looks fantastic. - Mr Ascroft

Styles & Materials
Construction Methods:
All layouts of staircases can be constructed in different ways which will effect the final finish, these include:
- Open riser construction; this is where the risers are left open with either a timber strip or metal bar built in to comply to regulations.
- Cut string construction; where the sides of the strings are cut away so the treads can be seen, this can either be done in a modern or traditional way.
Materials:
The materials used on your staircase will have a dramatic effect on how they look, most stairs will use the following materials.
- Pine; all our stairs are manufactured from high quality furniture grade pine, we do not use any whitewood.
- White Oak; we can manufacture all or part(s) of your staircase from premium White Oak, to give that stunning finish.
- Glass; we offer stairs with glass balustrade, either as small panels or large panels, secured with brackets or by embedding with a groove.
