N.B. The price shown is based on the staircase above and calculated based on current pricing.
Most domestic stairs we sell are 42 degrees.
42° is the steepest a staircase can be to comply with domestic building regulations, and walking up will be comfortable.
However, if you have space, you can reduce the angle of the stairs by adding an extra step or increasing the tread length (or both!).
This will make the stairs less steep (shallower) and even more pleasant to walk up.
Most stairs we sell with oak spindles are 41mm. However, 32mm are still popular; they have a slimmer profile than 41mm spindles and give a different, more slender appearance.
It's worth noting that although the price per spindle is slightly cheaper, you need to use more of them when using 32 mm spindles.
As standard, posts & spindles on stairs are square.
However, on this staircase, the client opted to have them "stop chamfered", which is the extra detail on each edge seen in the photos.
Stop chamfered balustrade gives a different look which can suit both traditional and modern interiors.
Oak veneered risers appear the same as solid oak risers and are significantly more cost-effective. We recommend oak veneered risers unless the stairs require solid risers (i.e., open riser).
This staircase features a single going curtail, adding a feature to the stairs and having the benefit of pushing back the first post by one tread, making the hallway feel bigger.
"Drop caps" refers to a situation where you have post caps on both the underside and the top of the posts.
Typically, caps are only on the tops of posts. However, you can add them where required to the underside as well.
