N.B. The price shown is based on the staircase above and calculated based on current pricing.
The first tread on this staircase is a single-going oak feature tread.
It's possible to have the feature tread in a different timber to the rest of the treads on risers within the stairs.
Having timber feature treads while carpeting the rest of the stairs is a widespread technique as it creates a nice contrast for the feature tread, making it stand out.
A lot of carpet fitters struggle to carpet feature treads; as such, having them in timber often looks better.
The maximum pitch for domestic building regulations (in a house) is 42°. The majority of stairs we manufacture are to 42°.
However, if you have the space and want a more pleasant staircase to walk up, it's possible to have the pitch shallower (less steep) than 42°.
At only 38.42°, this staircase is significantly shallower (less steep) than the maximum allowable 42°, so although it will take up more space, it will be far nicer to walk up and look more aesthetically pleasing.
If an oak stair is to be carpeted, it doesn't make sense to supply the treads and risers oak, given the cost saving.
As such, this staircase features MDF treads and plywood risers, ideally suited to carpeting.
Carpeted stairs are also less slippery, making them safer.
We offer glass panels either:
The glass on this staircase is embedded into a groove between the pine handrail and baserail.
All glass panels we supply are made to measure for each staircase.
A fantastic product. Perfectly engineered and fitted in superbly. Thank you TKstairs.
