Glass Balustrade Options
TKstairs are a supplier of stairs with glass balustrades in place of the traditional spindles which are usually supplied on a staircase. We’re able to offer a variety of options, some of which are outlined below. However, we can offer more bespoke options on request.
Large Glass Panels - Embedded
This is currently the most popular option we offer due to the minimalist look they create.
These made to measure glass panels sit inside a groove in the handrail and bottomrail and are secured in place when fitting the stairs with clear silicon and spacers (infill) which we supply with the handrail & bottomrail if ordered together.
We CNC cut each piece of glass specifically so that it fits perfectly into your new staircase.
Embedded panels are manufactured using 10mm toughened glass with polished edges.
Large Glass Panels - With Brackets
These made to measure glass panels are suspended in place using glass brackets which are screwed to the handrail and bottomrail, usually four glass brackets per panel.
We CNC cut each piece of glass specifically so that it fits perfectly into your new staircase.
These panels are manufactured using 10mm toughened glass with polished edges.
We’re able to offer the brackets either round, or square, please browse through the images for examples.
Large Glass Panels & Landings - Small glass panels - Embedded
These smaller glass panels are a fixed width of 200mm horizontal width. The advantage of this is that we keep them on stock for standard angle stairs (41° to 43°), and buy them in bulk as they’re generally a little cheaper.
These glass panels sit inside a groove in the handrail and bottomrail and are secured in place when fitting the stairs with clear silicon and spacers (infill) which we supply with the handrail & bottomrail if ordered together.
They’re CNC cut 10mm toughened glass with polished edges.
N.B. we also offer 200mm wide glass panels on brackets in the form of the fusion range. Please see information under “other types of glass panels”.
Other Types Of Glass Panels
Glass Panels on Cut String Stairs
The options above are all options for glass panels on standard design stairs. However, it’s also possible to have glass panels on cut string stairs such as in the example to the right where the class is embedded into the treads and risers and CNC cut into a zig zag shape along the bottom.
We would manufacture each of these panels individually to suit the staircase we supplied you.
It’s achieved by putting a groove into each tread and riser and into the post and handrail which the glass slots into.

Fusion Glass Panels
The options above are all options for glass panels on standard design stairs. However it’s also possible to have glass panels on cut string stairs such as in the example to the right where the glass is embedded into the treads and risers and CNC cut into a zig zag shape along the bottom.
We also offer Fusion glass panels, manufactured by Richard Burbidge. These are 200mm wide glass panels suitable for stairs between 38 and 45 degrees.
Each panel is held in place by two specially designed fusion glass brackets.
